26 April 2018
It’s time for City Sightseeing’s annual 3-for-1 Kids’ Special again, which means you can take two kids (under 18) along for free when you buy one adult one-day bus ticket or Harbour Cruise ticket. The special runs from 1 May to 8 October 2018 and will be valid on weekends, school holidays and public holidays.
Children can take in the sights and sounds of the city with their very own kiddies’ channel. They’ll also love these stops along the way:
Zoo Lake (stop 2)
Zoo Lake is ideal for family picnics and has plenty of things to do for children. They can feed the ducks alongside the large lake, go for a ride on a paddle boat or play on the jungle gym in the kids’ play area.
Johannesburg Zoo (stop 3)
See the Big Five and meet the creatures of the Amazon at the Johannesburg Zoo, home to more than 320 animal and bird species.
Carlton Centre (stop 11)
Prepare to be amazed at the Carlton Centre, the tallest building in Africa and one of the most popular stops on City Sightseeing’s City Tour in Joburg. The office tower stands 223m tall and it’s not surprising that the views from its top floor are probably the best you’ll see of the city.
James Hall Museum of Transport (stop 12)
For those memorable holiday snaps, hop on the City Tour to South Africa’s largest transport museum. See penny-farthings, ox-wagons, steam locomotives, electric cars fire engines and more at this exciting stop.
Sci-Bono Discovery Centre (stop 15)
With more than 350 interactive maths, science and technology exhibits, the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre is the largest and most visited science centre in Southern Africa.
Did you know?
Kids under the age of five ride for free on the red bus, with children aged five to 17 only paying R100 for a Classic one-day ticket. That’s half price! Book your tickets online to save even more, with R20 off every adult ticket.
Top tip: Combine the 3-for-1 Kids’ Special with City Sightseeing’s Pensioner Special
During school holidays the 3-for-1 Kids’ Special can be combined with City Sightseeing’s Pensioner Special, which runs weekdays, including public holidays. The Pensioner Special allows pensioners to buy half-price tickets for the red bus (not available online). Combining the two means grandpa and grandma can get a 50% discount on their tickets on weekdays and take along the grandchildren for free! Hop on the bus at any stop but remember to bring your barcoded South African ID along to qualify for the Pensioner Special.
