School holiday specials and where to find them in Cape Town

05 July 2017

The winter school holidays are around the corner and it’s time to find some fun things to do with your kids in Cape Town.

We’ve put together a list of fun activities and specials that you can check out over the vacation period.

Table Mountain Kidz Season

Table Mountain (STOP 7) is Cape Town's most prominent landmark, and is one of the New7Wonders of Nature. This winter, you can go up the Cableway and take two children with you, free of charge. The Kidz Season special is back, which means two kids ride free when accompanied by an adult.

Do note, the special is from 1 May to 1 September 2017 and is valid during the school holidays. It’s a perfect way to spend some quality time with your kids and not break the bank. The Cableway also offers a meal special for the kids in which they can get a delicious lunch and sweet treat – just ask for the Dassie lunch when you order.

The Cableway is scheduled for annual maintenance from 24 July to 6 August, so be sure to purchase your tickets before then.

Cape Point winter special

This winter, Cape Point has a fantastic special for a family day out. From 1 July to 30 September, one child rides free on the Flying Dutchman funicular with every adult ticket sold. Your child also gets to tuck into a free meal from the Two Oceans Restaurant with every adult main meal sold. This is an ideal way to enjoy the beautiful tourist destination with your family and save some money while you’re at it.

Please note that this special is for a limited time only, so be sure to plan accordingly.

V&A Waterfront specials

The V&A Waterfront (stop 1) is popular with locals and tourists, even during winter, and this year there’s a jam-packed schedule for the kids during the holidays. Join the Rugbytots Holiday Camp, where your little one can be part of an age-appropriate play session and learn some rugby-specific skills.

But most importantly, the V&A Waterfront is offering a variety of awesome specials. For example, two kids ride free on the Cape Wheel this winter, for every adult ticket sold.

And if you’re a parent or guardian with two kids under the age of 10 years old, they eat for free at Ferryman’s with every adult main meal purchased.

And if you’ve always wanted to go on a family sunset cruiseJolly Roger pirate ship, Ameera and Tigresse offer family specials for two adults and two kids.

How do you see all of these attractions?

Take advantage of City Sightseeing’s 3-for-1 promo, running until 8 October. This popular special is back, which means two kids under the age of 18 hop on and off for free with the purchase of one adult one-day pass. It's a perfect opportunity to enjoy some fun family time without breaking the bank, and to see some of the city’s finest attractions.

The choice is yours: see the Cape Peninsula, go on a Winelands tour or see the bustling inner city.
