At City Sightseeing we often get questions about our tours, tickets, schedules, special offers and more. Here we list all you need to know about hopping on the red bus, from where you start the tour, to where to buy tickets and other frequently asked questions.
Cape Town: You can hop on the bus at any of the scheduled stops along our tours, but we recommend our tour offices outside the Two Oceans Aquarium (stop 1), at 81 Long Street (stop 5) or Camps Bay (stop 8).
Joburg: You can start your tour at any of the stops along the City Tour or the Green Tour, but we recommend The Zone @ Rosebank (stop 1) – the Gautrain station is within walking distance and there's ample parking available if arriving by car (see parking tariffs here).
There are three ways to buy tickets:
-On the bus, at any one of our scheduled stops along the way (we have card machines available)
-At our tour offices. In Cape Town, there are tour offices at the V&A Waterfront, at 81 Long Street and Camps Bay.
-In Joburg, our tour office is situated at The Zone @ Rosebank (stop 1)
-Online (did you know all our tickets are discounted if you buy online?).Buy your tickets for Cape Town here and Joburg here
Yes, all our buses are fully equipped with card facilities. Please note, however, that we do not accept American Express cards.
You do not need to make a reservation in advance for the red bus tours, but buying your ticket online entitles you to a discount. Seats on the bus are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
It is recommended to book your seats for the Cape Point & Penguin Day Tour as well as the Wine Country Day Tour & Tastings Tour in advance as seats are limited and are subject to availability if bought from bus drivers. When booking, make sure you state your pick-up point. Tickets are only valid for stipulated day of booking.
Tickets do not include entrance fees to the stops. However, if you check the back of your ticket, you'll see a list of stops where you'll receive a discount on entrance fees – simply show your City Sightseeing ticket when you enter.
No, a Classic or one-day ticket is valid for an entire day, a Premium or two-day ticket for two consecutive days, and a Deluxe ticket for three consecutive days – until the last departure. This means you can hop on and hop off as many times as you'd like at no additional cost.
Hop on the open top red bus and enjoy the sights of Cape Town – from Table Mountain to the V&A Waterfront, from Camps Bay to Kirstenbosch. The Classic package gives you one full day on the bus covering all hop-on, hop-off tours.
