Beautiful sunny days in Cape Town should be celebrated with the whole family ... but shouldn’t break the bank to enjoy. We have the perfect solution – hop on a cruise with City Sightseeing.
City Sightseeing offers two, fun 20-minute cruising options to keep the whole family entertained. Hop on either the Harbour Cruise that navigates past giant ships and famous attractions in the V&A Waterfront harbour; or choose the Canal Cruise, which explores four stops along the peaceful water canals between the V&A Waterfront and Foreshore business precinct.
Or celebrate the day in true maritime style and hop on both!
Tickets for each tours cost R50 (R45 if you buy online) per adult and R30 per child between the ages of five and 17. Save even more by buying a combo ticket online and pay only R75 per adult for both cruises.
Book your tickets here to enjoy these great savings.
-The cruise runs every 20 minutes, weather permitting, from jetties at the CTICC, Harbour Bridge, City Lodge and -the One&Only Cape Town Canal Cruise tickets cost R50 per adult (R45 if you book online) and R30 for kids
No attractions will sail past you with our on-board commentary in 15 languages (English, Afrikaans, Arabic, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Zulu). There is also a channel designed specifically for kids to ensure a fun experience for all ages.
Most of the Foreshore precinct used to be under water, but found its business-hub shape through a complicated land-reclamation project. The canal linking the Foreshore to the V&A Waterfront is a reminder of the old seafront. On the Canal Cruise, you will learn more about this watery history and the V&A Waterfront’s underwater gems, such as secret submerged passageways and private islands.
The Canal Cruise makes stops at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), Harbour Bridge, City Lodge and the One&Only Cape Town hotel – be sure to hop on and hop off as many times as you’d like, as your ticket is valid for a full day.
Spot the seals as they weave in and out of the water, pass international ships visiting our shores, and look out for the SAS Somerset – said to be the only surviving boom defence vessel in the world.
The Harbour Cruise also takes you past the Chavonnes Battery Museum, the African Trading Post shopping centre and the Clock Tower. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll see the giant ship SA Agulhas. She travels to Antarctica for research purposes for three to four months at a time.
The Harbour Cruise is a circular tour without any stops, so don’t hop off the boat for this one!
The cruise runs every 20 minutes, weather permitting, from the jetty outside the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront. If you do not know where this is, simply ask one of our helpful staff members at our V&A Waterfront ticket office Harbour Cruise tickets cost R50 per adult (R45 if you book online) and R30 for kids
Life in and around the Victoria and Alfred basins is busy. On this trip you'll come across resident seals to international ships visiting our shores. Hop on our Waterfront Harbour Cruise to see the city in a new light and learn more about Cape Town's proud nautical history.
Whether you’re looking for an easy way to get from point A to point B or a fun outdoor experience, City Sightseeing’s Canal Cruise water taxis tick all the boxes.
