Everyone loves the famous big red bus, and it’s a hit with children! Have the whole family hop on the bus to embark on a Jozi adventure, stopping at popular attractions along the way. Kids even get a special audio channel to learn all about the city they call home along the way. We recommend you start at Johannesburg Zoo to visit the animals before heading on to Gold Reef City for an afternoon of thrilling and delightful rides.

There’s nothing as exciting as a theme park! Watch the kids' faces light up as they arrive at Gold Reef City to be greeted with raging rapids, racing roller coasters, and even a heart-stopping vertical drop ride. There are rides suitable for all ages, and theme park games where you play to win prizes!
The theme park in Johannesburg sits atop an old gold mine and is themed around the gold rush in Johannesburg back in the 1800s. You can even go on an underground tour of the old gold mine. It’s concluded with a live viewing of a real gold pour to turn it into a gold bar.

Start the day early and load the family in the car to head out to Sun City! About a two-and-a-half-hour drive out of Jozi, the sunny resort is well worth the wait, and the whole family won’t get enough of the Valley of the Waves. With an artificial sandy beach and cove that produces real waves, it’s the best way to spend a day at the beach in Gauteng. There are also lots of water slides in the park, and a lazy river for you to float along in on inflatable tubes.
You can find many pools in the resort, and the water has varying depths, so even the little ones can swim safely. There are always lifeguards on duty to keep a watchful eye over the swimmers.
Once you have had your fill of the waterpark, the whole family can enjoy some 10-pin bowling, or the kids can have a blast at the arcade while the parents try out the slots at the casino to end off a day of fun in the sun.

Round up the whole family for a safari at the Johannesburg Zoo! The kids will absolutely love meeting all the animals that call the zoo home. They have over 360 species of animals from all over the world and across Africa, from ring-tailed lemurs to tigers, brown bears to elephants, and honey badgers to foxes. The kids can visit their favourite animals at the zoo, and if they are still bursting with energy, there’s a play park that they can run wild in.
You can hop off the City Sightseeing bus at STOP 12 for Zoo Lake if you want to head there for lunch, a picnic, or a scenic row in one of the rental boats you can find on the lake.
