This is a truly unique Hop On Hop Off Red Bus experience that includes visits to some of Jozi's top art galleries, accompanied by your own personal Art Guide, trained and led by art‑tourism connoisseur Thabo the Tourist, who has been exploring the Johannesburg art scene for more than a decade. Your first stop is The Melrose Gallery at Melrose Arch. Dubbed the “gallery of the people”, The Melrose Gallery represents iconic names such as Dr Esther Mahlangu, Dr Willie Bester, Mam Noria Mabasa and Professor Pitika Ntuli, providing a powerful platform for an exciting new guard of African artists to narrate their stories in contemporary mediums. From there, the tour continues to Transwerke Art Studios at Constitution Hill. This historic building is alive with possibility and a great vibe, with real camaraderie between tenants. It is a thriving creative hub and one of the most fabulous office and studio spaces in Jozi. Next, you’ll visit the Standard Bank Art Gallery, home to important local and international exhibitions and one of the cornerstones of Johannesburg’s formal art landscape. The next stop on the route is Asisebenze Art Gallery, an energetic contemporary space showcasing bold new voices and fresh perspectives from the city’s ever‑evolving creative community. Your journey concludes with a visit to Main Street Reborn, where art, history and urban renewal come together in the heart of Johannesburg. The tour starts from our Rosebank stop 1 at 09:45. Please note: the experience involves walking around the galleries, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
