Wonderful ways to celebrate women's day this month

August 2020

With Women’s Day fast approaching, we would like to share with you some wonderful ways to celebrate the special ladies in your life.

Let City Sightseeing be her first outing

A fabulous way to treat her would be an outing with City Sightseeing.  Yes, we are back!

With a choice of The Red Route Urban Safari or The Blue Route Scenic Safari take mom out for the day to explore the Mother City.  A day of a fresh day, whilst soaking up the winter sun sitting on the upper deck, will leave her feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.  Or… to all the dads out there, take the kids on our tour and let mom have some time out at one of the following local places.  All these spots can be found on our routes mentioned above.

City Sightseeing back on the road....

Brunch & High Tea

Why not treat the lady in your life to a delicious brunch high tea at the President Hotel (Stop 9)  in Sea Point. It’s all about the fresh sea air on their outdoor terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and a delicious feast.   Their delectable menu served on Women’s Day from 12:00 – 14:00 includes a large variety of savoury and sweet items.  Also, you stand a chance to win a unique chef experience in your home with Chef Jacques Swart.

Pamper her with a Pure Bliss Package

Life Day Spa at the Waterfront is finally open again and offering amazing packages. Enjoy pure indulgence surrounded by elegantly appointed marble, glass and wood finishes. Take a journey through extraordinary water features and enjoy the glow of natural light as you soak up the serene atmosphere of this urban oasis. Treat the woman in your life to one of their many packages.  As an example, the Pure Bliss package, which is 4 hours, includes a Swedish Massage, an Optiphi Indulgent Facial, as well as a Luxury Stone Manicure and Pedicure.

Does the lady in your life prefer the outdoors?

If gardens are her favourite, she may want to explore Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens (Stop 20).   A 36-hectare World Heritage, the garden is renowned for its beauty and diversity. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through this Eden-like retreat, take some photos from the Boomslang Canopy or of the abundant bird-life, stop by the tea room for a cup of tea and a scone, or swing by their nursery and stock up on some indigenous plants for your garden.

Adventure and adrenalin seekers

Alternatively, if you are in the Constantia region, and the lady in your life is into adventure and exploration, why not visit the Acrobranch Adventure Course. Hidden deep within the Constantia Nek (Stop 21) forest, in the shadow of the misty mountains, lies this treetop playground. The four obstacle courses – two of which are suitable for young children, while the other two are geared towards adults – have all the ziplines, cargo nets, and elevated platforms a budding Indiana Jones could wish for. Assistants are available in case any of the kids need a helping hand, and there’s a restaurant on site where parents can relax.

For the arty types

Hout Bay Clay Café is a popular ceramic-painting venue, restaurant and kids’ playground and is a favourite among “grown-ups” and kids seeking a splash of creativity. Once seated, your friendly server will explain the drill, after which you’ll be invited into one of two bisque rooms to choose your unfired ceramics, paints, brushes, tools etc. Then, it’s back to your table to get creative, while enjoying a bite to eat. After painting and decorating, leave them there to be fired and glazed – you’ll receive an email notification once they are ready for collection. And, you’ll be happy to know that all items are microwave, oven and dishwasher safe.

Luxury dinner date with a movie and more

Experience an indulgent date-night with a three-course dinner at The Azure Restaurant at The Twelve Apostles Hotel, before heading to the private 16-seater cinema to watch one of your favourite films, while savouring delicious popcorn and sweets.  Now that intra-provincial travel is allowed, the hotel is offering a special until the end of September that includes: a one-night stay in luxury accommodation with a full South African breakfast in the morning.  Three-course dinner from their set menu in Azure Restaurant or The Café Grill with complimentary use of the hotel cinema is included, with popcorn, candies and rich drinking chocolate or a milkshake of the day served to you without missing a frame.

Table Apostles Hotel

To add to the above, why not spoil your lady to a treatment at the hotel’s spa. Boasting 7 dual and single treatment rooms, or if the weather is good, experience a massage in one of their two gazebos with Atlantic sea views.

High tea at home

High Tea

If you’d prefer a day at home, but still want to treat the lady in your life, why not enjoy a high tea in the comfort of your lounge, in style.  Although the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel (Stop 15) is currently closed to guests, its famed teatime ritual can still be enjoyed with all the trimmings this legendary pastime is known for. Specially prepared by the hotels' chefs each delivery includes a selection of sweet and savoury items, complemented by two aromatic loose-leaf teas. You’ll even have the accompanying music which can be enjoyed via a playlist created by resident pianist, Henri Dyke.

We believe the above will cater to all types of ladies in your lives.  Be sure to treat all the women in your life and make her feel special in August.
