Mandela Day
On Mandela Day, celebrated on 18 July each year, people around the world are urged to spend at least 67 minutes doing something positive for their communities in honour of the 67 years that former South African president Nelson Mandela spent fighting for social justice and a free, democratic country.
In honour of Nelson Mandela, City Sightseeing is calling on the public to pay it forward and nominate someone they feel has made a positive impact on his or her community and deserves a relaxing day out. Sixty-seven of the nominated recipients will receive a set of two one-day City Sightseeing tickets.
Simply visit the City Sightseeing South Africa Facebook page to nominate the person you feel deserves to be acknowledged. Please tell us why you feel that person should receive a set of tickets and if the nominee will prefer Johannesburg or Cape Town tickets. Nominations close on Mandela Day, 18 July, and tickets will be valid until the end of September 2016.
“Nelson Mandela once said, ‘What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.’
“City Sightseeing would like to thank those who are making a significant difference in our society. By nominating these people, you’re not only acknowledging the difference they’re making in their community but you’re also treating them to a day out in recognition of their efforts to make the world a better place”, says Mandi Jarman, City Sightseeing’s sales and marketing manager.
