The City of Cape Town is partnering with the CCID and Greenmarket Square businesses in this initiative, the first in a series of events.
This Thursday, 5 March 2020, will see local jazz musician Jonathan Rubain take to the stage, and the concert will also feature Don Vino, Candice Thornton, The Kiffness and Matthew Gold. A mass Salsa class is also on the cards.
City of Cape Town Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security Alderman JP Smith says the City had noted the concerns of businesses and residents in and around Greenmarket Square, a significant tourist hub.
‘It is the City’s responsibility to ensure that we create an environment that enables business and events in Cape Town to grow, which means job opportunities for residents,’ he says. Hosting events of this nature will revitalise the square’s economy.
40 on Burg Hotel General Manager Tosca Korver welcomed the event “wholeheartedly”, saying it reflected the “indomitable spirit of the Central City trading district”. “We fully support more initiatives like this in the future.”
