Cape Town is the best city in the world

18 September 2016

Cape Town is no stranger when it comes to "best of" awards, and the accolades continue to roll in in 2016.

Earlier this year, Cape Town was named the best city in the world in the 2015/16 Telegraph Travel Awards.

According to an article by traveller24.com, the Mother City clinched the top spot for the fourth consecutive year, ahead of Vancouver and Venice, who took second and third place respectively.

It also reports that Cape Town “took the top honours as the number one food city in the world” in Conde Nast’s Readers' Choice Awards.

Conde Nast sums up the reason for its decision in one sentence: “From sipping regional rose on Table Mountain to scarfing hake and fries at Kalky’s, there’s a breezy simplicity to Cape Town’s iconic eating experience.”

In addition, South Africa was also listed third in the best country segment in the Telegraph Travel Awards, behind New Zealand and the Maldives.
